Property Description
This three storey village house was for many years the home of a celebrated Gaucín artist couple. They still own it and everywhere there is evidence of their delightfully eclectic style: exuberant paintings and hand painted ceramics combine with antique furniture and traditional floors as well as some contemporary pieces to create a stylish interior with many pleasing corners.
It's a happy house!
Situated in the centre of the village, with easy access to bars, restaurants and shops, this is a genuinely old house which exudes charm and character, deceptively spacious and offering plenty of privacy too.
From the entrance hall there is a small sitting room with an open fireplace and glass doors that lead out to the lovely garden patio with its little, but nonetheless inviting, private pool.
The kitchen / dining room has been decorated in yellow ochre with bold blue contrasts and furnished with an old pine dresser and a large dining table. A double bedroom, a colourful bathroom and a small study with its escritoire, complete the ground floor.
The principal living room is on the first floor and has two balconies overlooking the patio below, with great views down to the coast and even across to North Africa on a clear day. Two bedrooms, leading off from the living area share a bright blue shower room.
There is another, smaller terrace on this floor from which stairs lead up to the roof top terrace above, offering more superb, panoramic views. From here you can take in the whole of Gaucín, from its Moorish castle dominating the skyline behind, over the old, twisty-tiled rooftops of the village, and beyond, across the mountains and down to the coast.
Add a little golden Andalusian sunshine, a good book and a beer and you may take some shifting from here!
Although the jasmine-scented courtyard below will tempt you too. This is another wonderful place, perfect for your al fresco meals or just to relax on lazy afternoons.
This patio is walled, offering privacy from the rest of the world; the sun shines over the exquisitely tiled pool in the corner.
This is an ideal choice for those who wish to holiday in a classic, white-washed Andalusian mountain village, in a genuinely old-style Andaluz house. It's a house which rambles happily, full of charm and character.
Access to the wider-than-average range of restaurants offered in Gaucín couldn't be easier. Just step outside the door and you are in the heart of the village.
Thirty minutes from the coast and forty minutes from Ronda, it is also an ideal base for touring the wonderful countryside all around or for excursions to the historic cities of Andalucía.
